I always have students in my class who LOVE math – they will sit there counting in their spare time and pick up on new math concepts without even blinking. Then… it’s time to work on our sight words and they automatically aren’t interested… they don’t even want to put in the effort! (Does anyone else have these types of students or is it just me!?)
Well… I figured it out: make them think they’re doing math when they’re really doing ELA! My mathematically inclined students LOVE these games… and don’t even realize they’re practicing their sight words in the process of doing addition! I decided to bridge off of the concept of Scrabble to have students add up the value of words… check out this video of the activity:
I ended up making games for both Dolch and Fry Words, you can check them out at the links below.

Hi Heather! I have the Smartboard and Promethean versions together in the ZIP file. I figured that made it easier than posting it twice.

Susan, I actually haven't! For now, I've only posted then on TPT but should definitely look into posting them on the Promethean Store. Thanks for the great idea!

Hey!!!
I don't have a Smartboard but I do have a Now!Board. Do you know if these would work on that? They look great and I would love to use them. Thanks, Kristin

Hi Kristin! I haven't played around with a Now board so I'm not positive if they'd work. I do have a free Smartboard product that you can download to test it: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Introduction-to-Cloud-Types-Interactive-E-Book-for-Smartboard-Freebie-1170166
You'll have to download Smart Notebook in order to view the file. You'll need a product key for Smart Notebook in order to use it- you may be able to get one from the tech person at your job.
