This is probably one of my favorite photo editing tricks! I love playing around with the colors of photos and it’s actually really easy to do!!! Honestly, it’ll probably take you longer to read the tutorial than you actually change the image’s color… that’s how quick and easy it is!
Now, onto the tutorial! Like some of the previous photo editing tutorials, this tutorial uses Gimpshop (which is free!), so be sure to download it so you can practice along with the following directions!
Note: If you’re using clipart created by someone else, please check with the artist to ensure that you have the rights to modify the colors of the clipart!!!
Happy photo editing!

It really is amazing and you can get so involved playing with all three bars and totally lose track of time! I'm definitely guilty of doing that before!

No problem! I love your technology tutorials as well! It was your word verification tutorial that even made me realize that I had the verification enabled!

Always love your tutorials!! I use powerpoint to recolor my images because that's what I use to create my products but you can't jsut save the image from there! Love this!

True! PowerPoint has a lot of neat little tricks like that, but like you said, you can't save it, and it also gidoing it gives you limited color options… in gimp you can pick infinite colors!

As always…..fantastic tutorial!

Found you while blog hopping. Glad I did. Thank you for this wonderful post! I am new to blogging and creating my own stuff. I have been using pixlr.com to create things. Do you happen to know if this is similar to Gimpshop? Is one "better" than the other? One thing I would love to learn how to do is to take a digital snap shot of my freebies to post on my blog. Just sayin' 🙂

Pixlr is very similar to Gimpshop! I wouldn't say that one is better, it's all a matter of preference. Personally, I use photoshop, but both Pixlr and Gimpshop (and PicMonkey) give it some stiff competition for free, but it's all a matter of what you're used to/ what you get used to!
I have the snap shot/screen shot in the poll so be sure to vote for it! I hope to blog about it soon, so stay tuned!

Can it be done with a black picture? I can't seem to make it work. Thank you!!!
TurntoLearn says
It actually doesn't work with black or gray images, only with color ones! There is a way to do it but it's far more complicated… I'll put it on my to do list for my tutorials though!

Oh my gosh you have MADE MY NIGHT!
Yesterday I made my first ever clipart image (a kangaroo) and I've been trying to change his colour by using the Colour Select and Bucket Fill Tools… they don't account for shadows so it looked pretty terrible.
YAY! I am so excited! Thank you!
